To Those Interested in Empty Bowl Zendo,

Empty Bowl Zendo will be offering an orientation for people interested in doing meditation practice with us beginning Tuesday, May 5, and continuing for the following four Tuesdays. Over that time participants will learn several Zen meditation practices, including breath meditation, shikantaza (just sitting) and koans. They will also be encouraged to bring Zen mind into everyday life. In each session, participants will have an opportunity to discuss together what arises for them as they practice.

In addition, the instructor will go over zendo etiquette; briefly discuss core Zen teachings; suggest readings; explain daisan (private meetings with a teacher), and the importance of zazenkais, sesshins, and ango (longer, more intense practice periods). Upon completion of the orientation, participants will be able to join in all sangha activities.

If you wish to join the May orientation—or know someone you think might be interested—please fill out this form and put "May 5 Orientation" in the Subject field with a brief message about why you want to attend and your meditation experience in the Message field. Orientation costs $30 per person.

Orientations will be held every other month. The dates for the next one will be announced shortly on the Empty Bowl Zendo website.

Warmly,

The Teachers at EBZ
