2018 Fall Retreat at Garrison Institute

Friday September 28th to Sunday September 30th

Unmon said, “Oh, you ricebag!  Have you been wandering about like that, now west of the river, now south of the lake?”  At this, Tozan had great realization.

This quote from Case 15 of the Mumonkan, “Tozan’s Sixty Blows” asks us to reflect on our practice.  Have we been leaky ricebags wandering around distracted by the news, projects or the lazy days of summer?  If so, participating in Empty Bowl Zendo’s Autumn Sesshin at Garrison Institute is the optimal way of getting away from it all and refocusing our practice so we can approach the shorter days of autumn with a renewed sense of purpose.  It’s an opportunity to turn the light inward to reacquaint ourselves with our true abiding nature so that we may go forward as beacons of light for others.

Over these days there will be plenty of meditation, dharma talks, private interviews and time to explore the open fields and beautiful grounds.  Come sit in community supported by your dharma brothers and sisters as we penetrate the heart of the matter.

There will be three other groups at Garrison the same weekend, so single rooms are going fast.
If you would like a single room, register asap!
