2019 Rohatsu Sesshin Dec 12th-14th
Buddha’s Awakening is Your Awakening
Rohatsu means twelfth month, eighth day, the date of Shakyamuni’s awakening, when he saw the morning star. Come join us as we explore the story of his journey of awakening and realize that what we can discover is not different from his discovery.
This year’s Rohatsu Sesshin will include two ceremonies. On Friday there will be a precepts vow renewal ceremony and on Saturday there will be a Jukai ceremony for those participants who have just completed precept study with Roshi Ray. The precepts are ethical guidelines for living out our practice in daily life.
We’ll offer plenty of meditation, time for reflection, dharma talks, opportunities for private interviews and the Jukai ceremony.
Participants may join in for all three days, Saturday only or any time that’s convenient for you.
Suggested donation for all three days - $20
Saturday only - $10
Any time - $5 (Please set up and break down your cushion.)
A sesshin schedule will be provided in a week or two via the weekly email so that those attending any time will know when it’s appropriate to enter (during kinhin or breaks). If you don’t yet receive the weekly email, subscribe here.
On Friday bring lunch or eat out.
Friday and Saturday bring your own snacks.
Hot beverage service will be provided Friday & Saturday.
